Rocco Kayiatos is the first openly transgender singer in the hip-hop genre. He tries to use his struggle as a trans man and he is speaking about issues of community through his songs. He is also a co-founder of the “Original Plumbing” magazine, which he created with Amos Mac. It’s the first magazine that is created by transgender people and for transgender people. Kayiatos is referred to as one of the most successful rappers in Pick Up the Mic, a homo hop documentary. His music also appeared in a popular LGBT-themed TV series “The L Word”. Currently he is working on a biopic with the name “The State of Katastrophe”.
